OPEN TRANSLATION WORKSHOP

Thanks to the support of the Kunststiftung NRW - Foundation for Art and Culture NRW - the Europäisches Übersetzer-Kollegium in Straelen was able to launch the newly conceived series of events Atrium Talks in Straelen, which will take place at the Europäisches Übersetzer-Kollegium once or twice a year starting immediately.

In close collaboration with their publishers, different German-speaking authors will discuss their current work with their respective foreign translators for several days.

The German-speaking author of Turkish descent Feridun Zaimoglu inaugurated the series Atrium Talks in Straelen with his novel Leyla. The work, which has won many awards, was not discussed in strict seclusion between the author and his translators. Instead, the public had the opportunity to experience at close quarters the microscopically detailed work on the translations into foreign languages in the EÜK's packed atrium within the framework of an Open Translation Workshop.
